New Year’s Eve is the day where we tend to think back on the past 364 days and reminisce on all we have accomplished and experienced. But New Year’s Day is when we think forward and anticipate the events we haven’t yet experienced. Here are a few Chicagoland activities to help you start 2019 off right. Happy New Year, Chicagoans!

Chicago

Looking to expand your palate in the upcoming year? Then First Bites Bash, on Thursday, Jan. 24, sounds like the perfect fit for you. This event is the official kick-off event for the 12th annual Chicago Restaurant Week. Downers Grove

If you’re a fan of jazz music, be sure to check out Live Jazz at Parkers’ Restaurant & Bar. This event runs every week on Tuesday through Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Each night has a specific theme, such as duos, trios, vocalists, and more. If you want to get your jazz fix, Parkers’ Restaurant & Bar is definitely the place for you. Genoa

On Saturday, Jan. 19, you can enjoy an enlightening evening with Prairie State Winery’s award-winning winemakers! This event will feature tastings of three new vintages of some of their best wines, as well as a meet and greet session with time for questions. Lombard

Every month, the Calvary Episcopal Church hosts a Community Market where local small businesses provide products for you to browse and purchase. During this month’s market, on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., the church will have holistic healers, reiki, essential oils, jewelry, clothing, tea, candles, and much more. Mokena

Want to get a leg up on your health resolutions for 2019? Stop by Health Nutz Natural Foods on Saturday, Jan. 26, for their Health & Wellness Fair. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., they will be hosting 20 local health-oriented vendors with unique displays to teach you ways to achieve and maintain all your wellness goals for 2019.
