Where is home?

by David Hachmeister

Where is home?

Does it mean where were you born, raised and educated?

Perhaps as American poet Robert Frost put it: “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.”

Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder opined that, “Home is where the heart is.”

We at Care & Comfort at Home would like to toss some other definitions into the mix. Home is where you care about the people and the people care about you. Home can be a new place or somewhere we can no longer go. Some people can open their hearts to make a new home where none existed before. Sadly, others seem unable to make one anywhere.

As we get older, if we are paying attention, we do get a little wiser. Wise enough to know that home has no walls of brick and mortar but rather, it resides in the kindred spirit of the community that surrounds us. Perhaps you have found a home where you are living now. If you are so fortunate, praise God for that. So many on this earth never have that kind of home.

Wherever your home is, we can help you keep that spirit alive by lifting some of the burdens of daily living from your shoulders onto ours. Our mission: To generate compassion and caring in the home and to enhance the lives of those needing at-home care assistance.

Best regards,
