by David Hachmeister, Owner, Care & Comfort at Home for Seniors and Veterans
Many years ago I was visiting with a psychologist friend, and she told me that the largest part of her client base was among people who were very successful by most standards. They had a great house — maybe even a summer place. They were very accomplished in their field, ate at the finest places, and were able to indulge many of their fantasies.
So, why the appointments with a psychologist? She said they came because they needed to know if “this” was all there is.
Our purpose in life
How sad. In our culture, we are overwhelmed by messages telling us our happiness is only a purchase away. In the deluge, the still, small voice is easily lost. Ageless wisdom tells us we must lose our lives to gain them. Simply translated, it means to find fulfillment, we must help others.
Helping others — it’s what we do
This is why we do what we do. Care & Comfort at Home for Seniors and Veterans is based on this life-fulfilling truth. As we are yet imperfect, our commitment is also not perfect, but it is aspirational. The largest truths are the only things really worth pursuing, but ironically are unattainable. We are constantly refocusing away from the many diversions to what it is at the core of a truly fulfilling existence. We have learned to enjoy the chase.
Whether you are a care provider or looking for care, let us know your story. We can help. It’s what we do.
